The Common Room Foundation 2019

Insight ≥ Demographics, talent and technology are combining to unleash a wave of entrepreneurial energy that – given the right conditions – could create a new breed of high-quality products, services and brands. However, a set of broken connections are blocking this energy in three specific ways: talent is trapped in silos, preventing the birth of creative ideas that lie at the intersection of different disciplines; local brilliance rarely comes into contact with global expertise; and the deck is stacked in favour of the few who belong to the right networks. New platforms and new approaches are required to fix this disconnect.

The Common Room Foundation is a joint venture founded by Lightspeed India and Motherland, and supported by a set of likeminded patrons. It is a sector-agnostic platform with a cross-disciplinary approach to enterprise. Its mission: to foster entrepreneurial spirit, and champion high quality people, products, services and brands from across India. This unique space in Dhan Mill, New Delhi, offers free access to public programming, as well as a residency programme for startups – both platforms are designed to connect people to leading entrepreneurs, thought leaders, global trends and influences. In addition to designing the space and overall visitor experience, Motherland also helps drive the programming calendar at The Common Room.
